About City of David
The story of the City of David began over 3000 years ago when King David headed for a small hilltop city, known also then as Jerusalem. King David then established Jerusalem as the unified capital of the tribes of Israel. King Solomon, Davids son, then built the first temple for the Jewish people. On the surface, one will find a magnificent observation point overlooking Biblical Jerusalem, while underground, a whole world of thrilling archeological excavations from the first and second temple period will await you. The City of David has revealed some of the most exciting archeological artefacts of the ancient world. As part of the tours in this ancient paradise, you can take a walk through a 2700 year old water system- known as Hezekyah’s tunnels. this water tunnels is one of the worlds wonders of early engineering.
